The Global Manufacturing Research Group (GMRG) is a multi-national community of researchers dedicated to the study and improvement of manufacturing supply chains world-wide. Through systematic study and research throughout the world, the GMRG aims to improve manufacturing supply chains through the development of theory and dissemination of results. By sharing ideas, results, and concepts with research colleagues and manufacturing executives around the globe, the GMRG serves to strengthen the linkage between research and practice.

Update: GMRG VI Survey

The Global Manufacturing Research Group is embarking on its most ambitious project to date – GMRG VI. In collaboration with the 2020 Globe Project ( we are targeting countries in each of the Globe regions. The data will include basic manufacturing practices and performance information for company benchmarking and executive program use. Moreover, it will include sections for gathering theory driven data for analyzing practices in sustainability, supply chain management, innovation and more.

We are now looking for co-investigators interested in gathering data in their country. Those that complete the minimum requirements, will have access to the complete data set from around the world. This can be used for benchmarking beyond their country and for performing analysis on contemporary issues facing manufacturing managers. In addition to these benefits, there will be the opportunity to collaborate with other experienced international researchers that are involved in the project.

If you are interested, please contact George Onofrei, PhD (
